1 Scope
This document specifies a method to characterize the multi -element contents and status in iron and
steel by original position statistic distribution analysis method of laser -induced breakdown
spectroscopy .
This document is applicable to characterize the content distribution, location distribution and state
distribution of multi -element in iron and steel. The content frequency statistical distribution,
segregation statistical distribution, apparent density statistical dis tribution, statistic fitting degree
statistical distribution and the type, content and particle size statistical distribution of inclusions can be
characterized.

3 Theory
The original position statistic distribution analysis is performed by laser -induced breakdown
spectroscopy (LIBS) on the relative motion sample. The excited emission spectra are dispersed into
characteristic spectral line . The emission line intensities of the selected reference line and the analysis
line are measured. Th e calibration curve is setup by the standard samples. According to the intensities
and the calibration curve, the elements content of the scanning area is obtained. The excitation location
information is synchronously obtained. By statistical distribution analysis, various information used to
evaluate the distribution of elements within the scanning area is obtained, such as content
